Adding A GoDaddy Domain

In order to connect your domain registered through GoDaddy with your ClickFunnels account, you’ll first need to add the proper CNAME record. This article will show you how to add a CNAME record within your GoDaddy account.

  

 

Prior to getting started, you will need to have the following:

Follow the steps below to setup your GoDaddy domain or subdomain


Step 1: 
Add your CNAME record to GoDaddy

  1. Log in to your GoDaddy account.
  2. Click on the domain you want to work with, then click on Domain.


  3. Click on Manage DNS.


  4. If a CNAME with the Name www exists, edit the record by clicking the pencil icon to the right of the record.

  5. If a CNAME with the Name www doesn't exist, click on Add New Record.

  6. Type: CNAME
    Name: www
    Value:
     target.clickfunnels.com
    TTL is set by default.
    And Click on Save

  7. To add a Forwarding Rule, click the Forwarding tab, then click on Add Forwarding.


    Important Note: DNS servers can sometimes take up to 48 hours to update your CNAME record, though it typically takes not more than a few hours.

  8. Under Forwarding, select https://

  9. Enter www.yourdomain.com in the field to the right (replacing the yourdomain.com portion with your actual domain).
  10. Under Forward Type, select Permanent (301).
  11. Select Update my Nameservers and DNS settings if presented as an option.
    Warning: If you see a warning here that reads “We will update name servers if you aren’t currently with us”, please note that if you proceed with these changes, your domain will be managed again via GoDaddy. This means that your domain is currently being managed elsewhere, and by saving these changes, you will remove management from whatever external service you are using.
  12. Click Save.

Step 2: Add your domain to ClickFunnels

  1. From your ClickFunnels Dashboard hover over the main menu on the top right-hand corner and select Account Settings.

  2.  On the left-hand side, select Domains.mceclip1.png
  3. Select Add New Domain.

    Select 
    Use an existing domain.

  4. Enter your external custom domain.

  5. If your custom external domain is currently managed in Cloudflare, you’ll need to indicate this by checking the box above the Add domain button (optional).

  6. Select Add domain.

Step 3: Verify your External Custom Domain

  1. On the next page, select I've done this step.

  2. If this is your first time adding a domain you will get a pop-up with some domain information which you can review close.
  3. If you want to select a funnel from the list in the drop-down menu & click Associate funnel. (optional)

  4. If you associate a funnel to your domain at this time, the Default and 404/Error Pages will auto-populate with the first step of the funnel you select, click here to find out more about these pages

  5. If you would rather associate a funnel with your domain at a later time, you can skip this step by selecting Just show me my domains.mceclip10.png

If you don’t associate a funnel to your domain at this time, you will need to select the Default and 404/Error Pages manually.

  • You can also click on Domains on the left sidebar to navigate back to the Domain Screen.

4. Confirm your domain is verified.

Step 4: Add the SSL to your External Custom Domain

  1. Click the three dots next to your external domain and then click Edit.

  2. Next to SSL, click Expand.

  3. Click Add SSL.

  4. Wait about 10-15 minutes, as per the notification.

  5. Return and click "Expand."

  6. Click "Check Now."

  7. When successful this a success message will appear.

Important Note
:
 If it has been more than 25 minutes and the SSL cannot be checked, and your domain is not SECURED, please reach out to our support team for further assistance.
