Prior to getting started, you will need the following:
Important Note: Your upsell (OTO) or downsell (OTO) pages should be moved to steps following your order form to work correctly. Please keep in mind that OTOs can only be made after an initial purchase on an order form. Using an On Submit Go To to get to an OTO page may cause the UTM parameters to be lost and the OTO page to not work correctly.
A 1-click upsell button requires the customer’s payment details to have been collected on a preceding Order/Checkout page. If the visitor hasn’t gone through an order page where their credit card information was captured, the 1-click upsell button cannot process a charge and will not work as expected.
Step 1: Add an Upsell / Downsell Page to Your Funnel
1. From within the funnel, click "Add New Step."
2. Add the "Name" of your funnel step.
3. Make sure that "Show In Funnel?" is set to "Yes."
4. Add a "Path" for this funnel step (optional).
5. Click "Create Funnel Step."
Select the Sales category and click "One Click Upsell" or "One Click Downsell" to view the available page templates.
Troubleshooting Common Issues
How to Fix a Non-Functional 1-Click Upsell Button
To resolve this issue, you can:
Add an Order/Checkout page before the Thank You page to collect the customer’s payment details. Then, keep the upsell on a subsequent page.
Replace the button on the Thank You page with a Checkout form/element so payment details are collected directly on that page. After adding a proper checkout step, you can use upsell buttons on later pages to offer additional products.
Replacing a 1-Click Upsell Button with a Checkout Form
If you need to replace a 1-click upsell button with a checkout form that supports coupons, follow these steps:
Edit the upsell step and remove the 1-click upsell button element.
Add a checkout form element (preferably a 1-step checkout) to the upsell page.
Open the checkout form settings and enable the discount/coupon field.
Save and publish. The checkout will now show a coupon field for customers to enter their code.
Fixing Errors or Missing Products on Live Order Pages
If a live order page shows an error or doesn’t display products, ensure that a payment gateway is connected in your ClickFunnels workspace. To do this:
Go to Workspace settings.
Set up Payments by connecting a payment gateway. Once a gateway is connected, the live order page can load the checkout form and display products properly for purchases and tests.
